Health Check-up Precautions
Identification Documents: On the day of the check-up, please bring a valid identification document (ID card/passport/home return permit) to the front desk of the branch to register and collect the list of check-up items.
Pre-Check-up Instructions:
-
Light Diet:
-
For 1-3 days before the check-up, it is advisable to have a light diet. Avoid foods high in sugar, fat, and protein, and reduce the intake of animal organs and blood products. Refrain from alcohol and overeating. Try to avoid strong beverages such as concentrated tea and coffee. Do not eat or drink after 8 p.m. the night before the check-up.
-
-
Special Examinations:
-
If you need to undergo special examinations such as gastroscopy or colonoscopy, it is recommended to follow the doctor's instructions for gastrointestinal preparation.
-
-
Avoid Strenuous Exercise:
-
For 2-3 days before the check-up, avoid strenuous activities such as long-distance running, swimming, mountain climbing, and playing football. Strenuous exercise can cause changes in blood and body fluid components. High-intensity exercise should also be avoided on the morning of the check-up.
-
-
Adequate Sleep:
-
Staying up late can lead to hormonal imbalances that may affect the check-up results. Ensure you have adequate sleep before the check-up. If you are accustomed to staying up late, try to adjust your schedule as soon as possible before the check-up.
-
-
Do Not Discontinue Medication Abruptly:
-
Patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension and coronary heart disease can take their medication as usual with a small amount of water. Diabetic patients can bring their medication and take it promptly after completing fasting tests to reduce the risk of missing a dose.
-
-
Women's Special Considerations:
-
(1) Women should not undergo urine tests or gynecological examinations within 3 days after menstruation ends. Sexual intercourse and gynecological medications should be avoided 48 hours before a gynecological examination.
-
(2) Pregnant women and those planning to conceive should avoid radiological examinations (such as X-rays, CT scans, bone density tests, C14, etc.).
-
(3) Marital status is defined by sexual activity. Women who have not had sexual intercourse should not undergo gynecological examinations. Choosing "unmarried" means forgoing gynecological tests.
-
-
Fasting Appropriately:
-
Fasting is required before blood biochemical tests, abdominal ultrasound, Helicobacter pylori breath tests, and gastroscopy. After completing fasting tests, please have breakfast promptly.
-
During the Check-up:
-
Check-up Timing:
-
Please arrive on time according to your scheduled appointment. The earliest check-up time at the branch is 7:50 a.m. (Blood drawing stops after 10:00 a.m.)
-
-
Provide Accurate Information:
-
(1) Inform the doctor about your medical history, surgical history, and any current discomforts in detail. This helps the doctor make accurate judgments based on the check-up results and provide reasonable advice.
-
(2) Women should inform the doctor if they are pregnant or sexually active. Women who have not had sexual intercourse should not undergo gynecological examinations. If pregnant, avoid gynecological examinations, including HPV, cervical TCT, and Pap smears.
-
(3) Women planning to conceive within six months, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women should not undergo radiological tests such as DR/X-ray, CT scans, or C14 breath tests.
-
-
Fasting Tests:
-
Fasting is required for blood tests (such as blood glucose, lipid profile, liver and kidney function), abdominal ultrasound, and C13/C14 tests.
-
-
Bladder Filling:
-
For ultrasound examinations of the bladder, prostate, uterus, and other related areas, it is necessary to have a full bladder. If you feel the need to urinate is insufficient, drink an appropriate amount of water. Generally, drinking about 500-800 mL (approximately two bottles of mineral water) before the ultrasound can meet the examination requirements.
-
-
Urine and Stool Sample Collection:
-
(1) Collect midstream urine, with a volume not less than the indicated mark.
-
(2) Collect fresh stool the size of a soybean on the day of the test. If blood is visible to the naked eye, remove the part with blood.
-
-
C13/C14 Testing:
-
(1) Maintain fasting before the test to avoid affecting the results.
-
(2) Swallow the test capsule with warm water without chewing.
-
(3) Thirty minutes after taking the medication, blow into the dedicated breath card to collect the sample. Do not drink water or eat anything during this period.
-
(4) If you have taken antibiotics or stomach medication in the past month, do not undergo this test to avoid false-negative results.
-
Other things to note:
-
Dress Appropriately:
-
(1) If you have eye pressure, fundus, or slit-lamp examination items, do not wear contact lenses.
-
(2) It is recommended to wear pants for easy dressing and undressing.
-
(3) Avoid clothing with sequins or metal, and do not wear bras with underwires or metal clasps. Do not wear jewelry to avoid affecting radiological examinations.
-
-
Do Not Skip Tests:
-
Do not skip check-up items due to shyness or inconvenience. The rectal examination is often skipped but can detect most rectal cancers.
-
-
Other Precautions:
-
(1) During blood drawing, try to relax to avoid blood vessel constriction due to fear, which can increase the difficulty of blood collection. After drawing blood, press slightly below the puncture site with a disinfected cotton ball for 5 minutes without rubbing to prevent subcutaneous hematoma.
-
(2) Individuals with pacemakers, magnetic metal foreign bodies in the body, claustrophobia, or severe heart failure should not undergo MRI examinations.
-
(3) When measuring blood pressure, rest quietly for at least five minutes before taking the measurement. Fully expose the upper arm, ensure the rolled-up sleeve is not too tight, and maintain calm breathing without talking.
-
(4) During ECG examination, lie flat, relax all muscles, breathe steadily, remain quiet, and avoid moving or talking loudly.
